
Michelle Butzke
Supplier Relations Manager, Commercial Civil Space, Small Business Advocate, NASA Programs
Michelle Butzke is a Supplier Relations Manager and Small Business Advocate for Lockheed Martin Corporation. She supports the Commercial Civil Space line of business for Lockheed Martin Space. In this capacity, Ms. Butzke is the liaison between industry suppliers and Lockheed Martin’s program teams, technical communities, and customers. Her principal effort is NASA’s Orion Spacecraft Program, where she works in concert with the Orion Program Office, Subcontracts, Communications, and Government Relations teams.
Previously, Ms. Butzke was in Business Development for Lockheed Martin Space and responsible for Human Space Flight marketing and outreach initiatives. She was a key strategist on the Crew Exploration Vehicle (now Orion) capture team and the architect of the proposal’s multimillion-dollar Orion Small Business Subcontracting Plan. She spearheaded the development of a multifaceted, award-winning small business program for Orion and is frequently called upon by NASA and other agencies to share best practices and speak to the industry about the importance of establishing such a program, which was featured in NASA’s publication, Deep Space Human Exploration Spacecraft Orion: A Case For Small Business.
Ms. Butzke is an elected member of NASA’s Industry Forum and a principal member of NASA Prime Contractor Councils at Johnson Space Center, Marshall Space Flight Center and Kennedy Space Center. In 2011, Ms. Butzke received NASA’s Space Flight Awareness Silver Snoopy Award for her efforts to advocate for and promote small business utilization.
Ms. Butzke graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1988 with a B.A. in Communications.
