Wyoming Business Council, the state’s economic development agency
Shawn Reese has served as the chief executive officer of the Wyoming Business Council, Wyoming’s economic development agency, since 2014.
He first started working with the Business Council in 2003. He oversaw the agency’s Investment Ready Communities Division operations and developed the Business Ready Community grant and loan program, which has since supported dozens of economic successes in the state such as Weatherby, Magpul and Microsoft.
From 2011 to 2014, Reese served former Wyoming Governor Matt Mead as his policy director. There, he oversaw a range of energy and natural resource issues. He was the lead architect of Governor Mead’s energy strategy, “Leading the Charge.” Reese helped develop energy plans and policies with the Western Governors Association and the Republican Governors Public Policy Committee. Since returning as the CEO of the Business Council in 2014, Reese has transformed the agency into a nimble, innovative organization focused on adding value to core industries while activating new economic sectors.
