7 Business-Driven, Community-Inspired Casper Events Worth Adding to Your Summer Bucket List

Summer in Casper isn’t just something you experience. It’s something our community intentionally builds.

From colorful lemonade stands run by future entrepreneurs to artisan markets packed with Wyoming makers; some of the best moments of the season are made possible by the visionary starters and community leaders that call this place home.

And while each event looks a little different, they all have one thing in common: they create opportunities for connection. They bring people together. They support small businesses. They showcase local talent. And they remind us that a thriving community doesn’t happen by accident.

It happens when people show up, tell their story, and back Casper with their whole heart.

So whether you’re a longtime local, a new neighbor, or simply looking to make the most of the season, here are seven business-driven, community-inspired Casper events worth adding to your summer bucket list.

1. Casper Lemonade Day

Lemonade Day might just be the most wholesome event of the summer.

Sure, there’s plenty of lemonade to go around. But what makes this annual tradition special is what happens behind the stands.

Presented locally by Hilltop National Bank, Lemonade Day gives young Casper entrepreneurs the tools, resources, and confidence to launch a business of their very own. Through hands-on lessons in: budgeting, marketing, goal setting, customer service, and financial responsibility; kids learn what it takes to turn a stand vision into a successful venture.

And, trust us, they take it seriously.

Families spend weeks preparing. Stands are thoughtfully and creatively designed. Lemonade recipes become closely guarded secrets. Young business owners practice their sales pitch, perfect their customer service skills, and proudly welcome customers throughout the day with a smile on their face.

It’s equal parts community tradition and entrepreneurial bootcamp.

On June 13, keep an eye out for lemonade stands popping up across Casper. Drive a little slower. Bring a few dollars. And don’t be surprised if you’re served by the next generation of Casper business owners.

After all, every great entrepreneur has to start somewhere.

2. First Thursdays ArtWalk

There’s something special about Downtown Casper on ArtWalk nights.

Maybe it’s the artists sharing their work. Maybe it’s the live music spilling onto the sidewalks. Maybe it’s the way neighbors, families, visitors, and friends all seem to find their way downtown on the same evening.

Held on the first Thursday of every month from May through September, ArtWalk transforms Downtown Casper into a celebration of creativity and community. From the Nicolaysen Art Museum and ART 321 to all the local galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and businesses in-between staying open late, there’s always something new to artistically uncover.

And the experience doesn’t stop inside the buildings.

Local makers and vendors line the streets, themed events pop up throughout downtown, and Casper’s breweries and restaurants help fuel the evening as visitors stroll from one stop to the next. Thanks to the Casper Downtown Development Authority’s open container district, guests can grab a beverage and enjoy everything the evening has to offer at their own pace.

Even if you don’t consider yourself “artistic”, ArtWalk is worth experiencing. It’s a chance to support local businesses, discover a new favorite artist, and spend a summer evening immersed in the creative energy that makes Casper memorable.

Somehow, every season, it feels a little like coming home. Get your guide and meet us downtown on the first Thursday of the month!

3. NIC Fest

Before artisan markets were trendy and before community festivals seemed to pop up on every corner of the calendar, there was NIC Fest.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, NIC Fest has become one of Casper’s most beloved summer traditions. Hosted by the Nicolaysen Art Museum, the event has spent two decades creating a space where artists, makers, musicians, entrepreneurs, and community members come together to celebrate creativity in all its forms.

In many ways, NIC Fest helped pave the way for the business-driven, community-inspired events that continue to thrive across Casper today.

But what keeps people coming back year after year is the experience itself.

The festival brings together some of Wyoming’s most talented artists, makers, and small business owners for a weekend filled with shopping, food vendors, entertainment, and live music. It’s equal parts art festival, community gathering, and summer celebration.

And if you’ve attended before, you know one thing is certain: the NIC knows how to throw a party.

Whether you’re searching for a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork, supporting local businesses, enjoying live music, or simply spending time with friends and family, NIC Fest remains one of the best ways to experience the creativity, culture, and community spirit that make Casper special.

Twenty years later, it’s still setting the standard.

4. David Street Station Summer Markets

Some of Casper’s most exciting businesses don’t start with a storefront. They start with an idea, a folding table, a few products, and the courage to put them out into the world.

That’s what makes the Summer Markets at David Street Station so special.

Held every other Tuesday throughout the summer, the markets bring together local entrepreneurs, artists, makers, food vendors, and small businesses for an evening of shopping, connection, and community. For many vendors, it’s an opportunity to introduce their products to new customers, test new ideas, and build momentum for what comes next.

As a proud sponsor of the Summer Markets, Advance Casper is especially excited to support the entrepreneurs and small business owners who make this event possible. Their creativity, grit, and willingness to take a chance on an idea help strengthen the local economy and contribute to the character that makes Casper unforgettable.

Of course, the markets aren’t just for shopping.

With live music, food vendors, and a welcoming atmosphere in the heart of downtown, the Summer Markets have become a favorite summer tradition for families, friends, and visitors alike.

You never know what you’ll discover. A new favorite product. A future global concept. Or an entrepreneur at the very beginning of their story.

And that’s exactly why we keep coming back.

5. The Mercantile at WYO Sports Ranch

The College National Finals Rodeo may be the headliner, but The Mercantile at WYO Sports Ranch has quickly become one of the week’s standout attractions.

Now in its second year, this western-inspired market has found its stride alongside CNFR, creating a gathering place for rodeo fans, families, locals, and visitors alike. Located next door to the Ford Wyoming Center, The Mercantile offers the perfect excuse to arrive early, stay a little longer, and make the most of your time on the hill.

Inside, you’ll find western-inspired vendors, local makers, live entertainment, themed events, and food trucks serving up Wyoming staples – including locally sourced beef burgers from Frank’s Butcher Shop right here in Casper.

What makes The Mercantile special is how naturally it complements the rodeo experience. It captures the entrepreneurial spirit, western heritage, and cowboy culture that make CNFR such an important part of summer in Casper.

So whether you’re kicking up your boots at the rodeo, looking for a unique Wyoming-made product, or simply saddling up for some good ol’ western fun; The Mercantile is the place to be.

After all, every good rodeo deserves a place to gather.

6. Crazy Days & Wild Nights

For 65 years, Crazy Days has been bringing people downtown, and this year’s celebration is shaping up to be one of the best yet.

Hosted by the Downtown Casper Business Association, the event kicks off on Friday with all-day sidewalk sales as local businesses bring their best deals and merchandise out into the streets. It’s the perfect excuse to shop local, support downtown businesses, and discover a few new favorites along the way.

The fun continues Saturday as 2nd Street transforms into a community celebration featuring a Crazy Days Car Show, kids mini carnival games, street vendors, food, and continued sidewalk sales throughout downtown.

Then, at 6:00 PM, head over to David Street Station for a free community concert and to cap off the weekend in true 5150′ fashion.

What makes Crazy Days special isn’t just the shopping. It’s the way Downtown Casper comes alive. Businesses open their doors. Families fill the streets. Neighbors run into neighbors. And for one summer weekend, the heart of Casper is on full display.

Sixty-five years later, it’s still one of the best ways to experience our downtown community. See you July 17th – 18th!

7. Funky Junk

If you know, you know.

Funky Junk has become a local favorite for good reason. What started as a homegrown artisan market in Casper’s historic Big Tree neighborhood has grown into one of the community’s most anticipated events, recently expanding to David Street Station while staying true to what made it special in the first place.

Unlike many vendor markets, Funky Junk is intentionally curated to feature local artisans, makers, and small businesses. You won’t find corporate booths or promotional giveaways here. Instead, you’ll discover handcrafted goods, original artwork, vintage finds, home décor, jewelry, apparel, and one-of-a-kind treasures created by people who genuinely love what they do.

But ask anyone who attends regularly and they’ll tell you – the finds are only part of the draw.

There’s a certain energy to Funky Junk. The kind that stirs when creative people gather, live music fills the air, and hundreds of community members come out to support local businesses. Year after year, the event continues to raise the bar, with an increasingly impressive music lineup and an atmosphere that feels distinctly rare.

In many ways, attending Funky Junk has become a rite of passage for locals and a must-visit destination for visitors.

Come for the shopping. Stay for the vibe!

Gather to Grow

What makes these events special isn’t just what’s on the calendar. It’s the people behind them.

The banker helping a young entrepreneur launch their first lemonade stand. The artist staying up late to finish a piece for NIC Fest. The small business owner loading inventory for a summer market. The volunteers, sponsors, nonprofits, musicians, makers, and community leaders showing up year after year to create experiences worth sharing.

Together, they’re helping shape the kind of community people want to be part of.

They’re creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to grow, artists to thrive, businesses to connect with customers, and neighbors to gather around something bigger than themselves. In many ways, these events tell the story of Casper better than words ever could.

So this summer, we encourage you to get out and experience them.

Shop local. Discover a new favorite artist. Cheer on a young entrepreneur. Attend an event you’ve never been to before. Stay a little longer. Bring a friend.

Because every ticket purchased, every local vendor supported, and every evening spent engaged helps strengthen the community we’re growing together.

Connect with Advance Casper to explore how your business can take advantage of Wyoming’s only Foreign Trade Zone and what it could look like to build your next chapter here.
