Member Spotlight: Western Sign & Design

Please give a warm welcome to Nick & Allison Gilbert, owners of Western Sign and Design. We were so honored to slow down with these two this month and learn more about their company’s operations and plans for expansion in Wyoming.

Although Western Sign & Design has been in Casper for over 50 years, they are having an impact like never before. The Gilbert’s have perfectly met the growth of Wyoming’s business sector while exposing the community to visibility that makes a genuine difference. Not to mention their character and connections contribute to our community culture in a legendary way. From currently partnering with the College of Law at the University of Wyoming to evolving their own internal team to better serve local clients, we are incredibly lucky to have Western Sign & Design in the heart of Wyoming.

Q. What is the story behind Western Sign & Design?

“For over forty years, Steve Semino owned and operated Western Sign and Design. Back then signs were hand-painted, and Steve was recognized as one of the best in the industry. As technology grew, he evolved and adjusted to new trends while staying true to his style. In 2017, Steve was ready to retire and pass on his legacy which aligned perfectly with Nick and Ali Gilbert who were ready to expand their own sign business that they had started two years prior! Fast forward seven years and Western Sign and Design has not only grown into a seven person team, but they have continued to uphold their strong reputation in Casper and beyond. The Gilberts are honored to be locally owned and operated and work with all types of industry-defining businesses in the state.”

Q. What are your current offerings?

“When it comes to signage, the sky is the limit at Western Sign and Design. Not only do we manufacture, but we also install signs throughout the state. Our clientele is made up of businesses of all backgrounds and industries. From startups and small businesses to large government projects and more; we are committed to increasing visibility in an impactful way. We offer: electronic message centers, illuminated cabinets, panel wall signs, stickers, banners, vehicle graphic wraps, and everything in-between.”

Q. How does your business have a greater impact on the community?

“Casper is home. As a business rooted in Wyoming, we believe in giving back where we can. We are constantly seeking opportunities to sponsor events, kids, athletes, etc. that align with our missions and values so they too can excel and make a difference in the world.”

Q: How does your company benefit from doing business in Casper, WY?

“Casper is a great community. The number one question Narender, our owner, is asked is, ‘Why Casper?’ His response has always been the people.“

Q: What’s ahead in 2024/2025? What does this next chapter of expansion hold for you & Casper’s growth?

“We have broken ground on a 100 room Hyatt Place that we plan to open in 2025. This will be the first Hyatt in Wyoming, and we are thrilled to be the company bringing the brand to our state.  This project will create at least 20-25 new jobs in the community.  In addition to this we have had numerous conversations with the city about purchasing land in the newly rezoned area, across from the Ford Wyoming Center and Wyo Sports Ranch.  We hope to be a part of the expansion on the hill. We understand that growth in our city doesn’t happen overnight, but we want to support it and be a part of it.”
